I'm going on an adventure

“I want adventure in the great wide somewhere, I want it more than I can tell,
And for once it might be grand to have someone understand,
I want so much more than they’ve got planned”
- Beauty and the Beast
I have been fortunate enough to #travel internationally over the past three years. When I was younger, I traveled to Mali in West Africa, which was not the most luxurious trip – but it surely was an experience. That was when the ‘travel bug’ first bit me. Then in University I had the opportunity to travel to Egypt with the Student Committee for a bench-marking trip. That was probably one of the best weeks of my life. After we came back, I started planning my next trip. It took quite a while to decide on when and where – but by July 2018, exactly a year after Egypt, I booked my first solo trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Why those countries exactly?
Well, firstly, the trip was very affordable and great value for money with a student budget. Secondly, #Cambodia specifically has always been on my bucket list. I remember watching a season of Survivor when I was still in school that was produced in Cambodia, on a small island called Koh Rong. To my surprise, there it was, on the itinerary of our #GAdventures ‘Cambodia on a Shoestring’ trip. That island story is a blog on its own!
For my next trip I’m looking at going to Japan. I have a family member there with whom I can stay and travel with – alone adventures can be scary, so this makes me so excited! You see, this is what happens when the travel bug gets you – you never stop thinking about where you’re off to next!
If you are thinking ‘why is she going to all these random places’, the answer lies in the affordability, I honestly try to pay for everything on my own. My travel ideology is to go and see places while I’m young, where I can actually have the full experience without having to turn every cent around and order a side salad, on the side of my water (Friends reference) for lunch. Obviously, I would love to go to Europe and the Americas, but I’ll do it one day when I can do it properly. For now, I’ll follow the adventure wherever it’s cheapest!
My question to you is, when is your next flight leaving? Where is your next #adventure taking you?
